Most NHS staff are used to working under stress and pressure. COVID-19 has introduced new stress factors alongside the uncertainty of what the coming year could bring.

This session pulls together research into individual and group responses to stress and pressure and the strategies adopted by those who have been demonstrated to operate effectively under those conditions.

The good news is that “pressure performers” utilise skills that we all possess and have a mindset that we can all adopt. The tricky part is constructing a practical plan to embed those practices into your own working day and foster team cultures that do the same. To help this process we’ll conclude with simple suggestions about how attendees can foster the outlook and habits that support wellbeing and performance under pressure.

The workshop will cover:
• Understanding the difference between stress and pressure
• What does the evidence say about our constructive and destructive responses to stress and pressure
• Identifying strategies that work to tackle both issues
• Lessons from high pressures environments such as emergency services and sports psychology
• Improving the capacity of teams to deal with stress and pressure

Who should Log in:
Colleagues who want to identify what they already do well in relation to pressure and what other techniques they could apply. Leaders who want to enhance their team’s ability to deal with stress and pressure. Anyone with an interest in wellbeing at work.
