Facilitating Training National Programme

Over two months, trainers from across the country will come together online to explore a wide range of vital facilitation topics and hone their training skills. This in-depth programme will provide time for you to not only learn new techniques, but also put them into practice, so you become a more confident facilitator.

Registration is now open for cohort 5 starting 3rd June 2025 and cohort 6 starting 16th September 2025.

Who the programme is for

This programme is ideal for anyone who needs to facilitate training, workshops, or team-building within their organisation. Whether you are a full-time trainer, or someone who facilitates sessions as a small part of your role, this programme has something for everyone.

Learning objectives

Identifying

Identify the diverse learning needs of participants to design effective training sessions.

Explaining

Explain the principles of effective training design and how they cater to various learning styles.

Apply active learning strategies, such as group work and scenario-based learning, to enhance participant engagement.

Analyse common challenges faced during training sessions and develop strategies to address them.

How does the programme work?

The programme includes four three-hour online workshops led by our facilitation leads, Joe Blunden and Robin Davis. You can find out more about the content they will cover below.

You will also be able to access a wide range of resources during the programme, including a bespoke technical guide, and connect with other participants throughout.

1. Session design

Cohort 5: 3rd June 2025, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

We'll explore the key principles of effective design, examine different learning styles and their relevance to session creation, and highlight some of the most important elements of effective training workshops.

2. Engaging effectively

Cohort 5: 18th June 2025, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Cohort 6: 30th September 2025, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Find out what tools to use to make your training sessions interactive and engaging. You'll learn how to effectively use breakouts, self-reflection, whiteboard activities, and other techniques to bring your sessions to life.

3. Common challenges

Cohort 6: 14th October 2025, 1:30pm - 4:30pm

What are the common challenges that trainers and facilitators face? We'll discuss managing disengaged groups, dealing with disruptive delegates, and handling technical issues. You'll also learn how to make your training more inclusive too.

How much does the programme cost?

This programme is available to staff at both member and non-member organisations. The cost for staff at member organisations is either two tokens or £600 per participant. Staff at non-member organsiations can join this programme for £800 per person.
