Storytelling for interviews

Did you know that candidates who tell stories during interviews are more likely to be remembered, connect emotionally with the panel, and land the job? Research shows that storytelling can significantly boost interview performance and even reduce anxiety. This one-hour webinar will equip you with the tools to become a more confident and compelling storyteller. We’ll explore how stories can subtly influence the panel’s thinking, plant key ideas, and make you more likeable, all without feeling forced or rehearsed.

This free webinar is part of our career development webinar series. If you’re not an NHS Elect member, simply register using the guest checkout option.

Kenny Ajayi

Kenny Ajayi began his career as a physiotherapist, gaining valuable clinical experience before transitioning into roles within the NHS. His early work focused on clinical ergonomics and human factors in the NHS and local authorities, where he developed expertise that would later shape his career.

Building on this foundation, Kenny held a director role in a company that provided training and consultancy services to the NHS, social services, and the private sector, specialising in risk management.

He went on to take on senior roles in the NHS, including Programme Director for a regional Patient Safety Collaborative (PSC) in North West London, Associate Director for Quality and Safety, and Portfolio Lead for the Children and Young Person’s Mental Health Mission at a Health Innovation Network (HIN). His contributions have been nationally recognised, with his work earning two prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) awards for patient safety innovation and partnership. Notably, he led the team responsible for the development of the Suspicion of Sepsis Insights Dashboard innovation.

Kenny’s commitment to professional development is reflected in his academic and training achievements. He has completed two healthcare-focused train-the-trainer courses, in addition to holding two Master’s degrees—one in Ergonomics/Human Factors from University College London and another in Integrated Governance in Healthcare Communities. He has also completed the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Executive Programme in Patient Safety and the NHS Academy Nye Bevan Award in Executive Healthcare Leadership.

A passionate advocate for partnership across systems and care settings and an enthusiast of knowledge-sharing, Kenny has a strong interest in public speaking and is a graduate member of the Chartered Society of Ergonomics and Human Factors. He continues to contribute to the field as a visiting lecturer at the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London.
